Diehl thinks Andrews signing is awesome

It had nothing to do with the game, but I was able to ask David Diehl about the newest offensive lineman on the team, Shawn Andrews. He used the word “awesome” four times in three sentences when talking about the acquisition. Apparently he’s in favor of it.

“It’s awesome to be able to bring in a guy who was a hell of a player until his injury,” he said. “It’s awesome we can bring a guy in who can fill in if somebody’s hurt and compete and play.”

Perhaps the most awesome thing about Andrews for Diehl? He’s a guard. And while Andrews isn’t slotted into any particular position – the Giants think he can play guard or tackle – his ability to fill in in the middle means only one thing to Diehl, a tackle who has had to play guard in the last two preseason games due to injuries.

“I can go back to my position,” he said. “Yeah, it’s good.”
