Ahmad Bradshaw’s options may have been cut in half.
Drawing interest from both the Dolphins and the Giants, the free agent running back may have no choice but to return to his former team in New York after the Dolphin reportedly finalized a trade for Reggie Bush on Thursday morning. It did appear that the Dolphins were already backing away from Bradshaw last night, but with the acquisition of Bush there seems little chance that Miami will remain in the fight.
So that leaves the Giants, the team Bradshaw said he had a 75 percent chance of playing for in 2011 anyway. The Giants had made Bradshaw an offer yesterday and were working on restructuring Brandon Jacobs’ deal. That restructuring is said to be minimal and is expected to be completed soon. It could pave the way for the Giants to sign Bradshaw, although there is certainly the possibility that another team will enter the picture.
Of course, now it’s the Giants who have options since the Dolphins have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams as free agents who are available and Cedric Benson and Joseph Addai are still on the market. But it does appear that the Bush deal brings Bradshaw and the Giants closer together than they were 24 hours ago.
