The Giants-Eagles game kicks off in about an hour, but already a few things have fallen into place for them.
First of all, it appears to have stopped raining. Or at least slowed down quite a bit. The winds, meanwhile, are barely blowing. This is very good news for the Giants and their quarterback, who had had well-documented difficulties throwing in the elements of Giants Stadium.
Meanwhile, down in Dallas, the Chargers beat the Cowboys to send the Pokes to their second straight loss since the calendar turned to December (is there some kind of trend or stat about that?) and dropping Dallas' record to 8-5. What that means for the Giants is that no matter what happens to them tonight, they will be no worse that a game behind Dallas for the wild card. And next week Dallas is at New Orleans while the Giants will be at Washington. Of course if the Giants win tonight, there'll be a three-way tie for the NFC East lead with three games to play. Woo-hoo!
A few tweaks to the Giants' lineup tonight. Rocky Bernard has been benched. To me that means we'll see more of the defensive line of Osi, Tuck, Kiwi and Clint Sintim on passing downs. Also Hakeem Nicks is your new starting wide receiver for the Giants (although technically he's started two other games, this appears to be a case of him leap-frogging Mario Manningham). Also Aaron Ross will start at safety.
