The Giants could be without two of their starting offensive linemen in Saturday night's preseason game against the Jets.

Starting center Weston Richburg missed a second straight practice with a knee injury and starting right tackle Marshall Newhouse had to leave Wednesday's workout with an ankle injury. Newhouse had the back of his ankle stepped on during a play and limped off. He was replaced by Geoff Schwartz, but after he took a tumble in the two-minute drill he was yanked in favor of rookie Bobby Hart. It was Hart's first time getting first-team reps.

Dallas Reynolds replaced Richburg for the second day in a row.

The Giants have not allowed a sack of Eli Manning in two preseason games but the patched-up line could have its hands full against the Jets. "The Jets have an outstanding pressure package," Tom Coughlin said. "They also have an outstanding front, a big front, so we are going to be tested with regards to that, too."

Almost a Cowboy

New linebacker Ashlee Palmer said he's looking forward to making the roster and facing the Cowboys in the opener, and not just because he was on the Lions team that lost a heartbreaker to Dallas in the playoffs.

Palmer was invited to a tryout for the Cowboys, but was not allowed to work out for the team because of elevated blood pressure. He wound up signing with the Giants on Monday.

Giant steps

S Nat Berhe (calf) suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and did not practice. Berhe has missed almost all of the spring and training camp practices . . . WR Odell Beckham Jr. said he's excited to face Darrelle Revis."That's what you come here to do is put yourself in the best position possible to go against the best and he's clearly one of the best," Beckham said. "It should be a tough challenge but I'm looking forward to going out there to compete."
