For the third straight year, the Giants will face an all-AFC schedule of opponents in the preseason. Now they hope their luck will change once the games count.
The Giants, who haven't made the playoffs since winning the Super Bowl after the 2011 season, will face the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium in Week 1 of the preseason (Aug. 13-17, with the specific date and time to be determined). It's the first Giants-Bengals preseason meeting since 1998 and the fourth overall.
The Jaguars will visit the Giants in the second preseason week (Aug. 20-24). The Giants last faced the Jaguars in a preseason game in 2012. The Giants and Jaguars have played each other seven times in the preseason, and Tom Coughlin has been a coach in all seven games -- six times from 1996-2001 with Jacksonville and in 2012 with the Giants. Jacksonville beat the Giants, 25-24, in a Week 13 regular-season game last year.
The Giants finish off the preseason against two familiar foes: the Jets in their traditional Week 3 matchup (Aug. 27-30) and the Patriots in the preseason finale. That game will most likely be played on Thursday, Sept. 3.
The Giants trail in the preseason rivalry with the Jets 24-21-1 but won last year's matchup, 35-24.
The Giants won all five preseason game last year but finished 6-10 in the regular season.
