The date we kept hearing from the players at today's minicamp at Bergen Catholic High School was July 27. That's when they expect (hope may be a better word) to have to be in Albany for the start of training camp. Shaun O'Hara optimistically told the players to be ready for that date and that's the one they have circled in their heads.
Only if there is a full training camp and the preseason schedule is untouched, the Giants won't be reporting to Albany until July 29 or 30. That's 14 days before the preseason opener.
Why the discrepency (albeit a minor one that only detail freaks like myself would notice)?
Either O'Hara has trouble with numbers (Rutgers) or he figures that since there were no official minicamps for the NFL teams this offseason, the league may tack on a few extra days of training camp to help get everybody ready.
Here's hoping by the end of July we have such problems as trying to figure out exactly when players will report to camp.
