The Giants have made a contract offer to Ahmad Bradshaw, but when asked if the team is any closer to re-signing the running back who is most likely their top priority among free agents, a source said "No."
That's not good news for the Giants, but I suppose it's to be expected. Bradshaw has said publicly that while he'd like to return to the Giants he is open to other opportunities. Pouncing on a first-day offer from the Giants would not be in line with those comments.
So while there still seems to be a way to go before Bradshaw makes up his mind, as of right now the two sides are either far apart or simply waiting each other out.
According to reports from San Francisco, the Giants have agreed to terms with free agent center/guard David Baas, most recently of the 49ers. He can play either position, which is good, since yesterday the Giants told guard Rich Seubert and center Shaun O'Hara that they will be released later this week. Baas can't sign until Friday and can't practice until late next week.
