New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch is the latest sports figure to publicly state support for same-sex marriage in New York.
Tisch filmed a video for Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, which is embedded below.
Wearing a Giants shirt in the video, Tisch says “I am proud to join the chorus of professionals in sports working for fairness both on and off the field.”
“All New Yorkers should be able to marry the person they love,” he said.
Rangers left wing Sean Avery was the first athlete to adovcate for same-sex marriage with the HRC. Avery took a lot of heat from people on many social media outlets following his video. Former Giant Michael Strahan and the Phoenix Suns’ Steve Nash have also filmed videos supporting same-sex marriage with the HRC.
The HRC has recorded over 30 videos of New York politicians, actors and athletes pledging their advocacy for marriage equality.
