Got an interesting email from our buddies (well, acquaintances, really) over at Bodog.com regarding the odds they are giving for teams to win Super Bowl XLV this upcoming season.
More specifically, it looks at the effect this offseason has had on those odds. For example, the Giants' odds of winning the championship immediately following the last Super Bowl on Feb. 8 were 20-to-1. Today, on April 26, though, those odds have gone up to 25-to-1.
The Jets, meanwhile, had the most successful offseason in the eyes of oddsmakers. On Feb. 8 they were 25-to-1 to win the Super Bowl. But today they are 12-to-1. "Money keeps pouring in on them," the release notes. (It keeps pouring OUT of them, to, the way they've been signing expensive veteran players, but that's neither here nor there!)
On Feb. 8 the Colts were the favorties to win Super Bowl XLV and today they still are (13-to-2 then, 8-to-1 now).
Two other teams on the move: Donovan McNabb’s trade dropped the Skins from 50-to-1 shots to 28-to-1, and the Steelers have gone up from 11-to-1 to 18-to-1 due to the Ben Roethlisberger suspension.
