Motor City, here come the Giants and Vikings!

After a tear in the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis left that venue unplayable, the NFL has moved the game between the Giants and the Vikings to Ford Field in Detroit according to the Giants. It will kick off at 7:20 p.m. EST on Monday night.

The Giants, who spent Saturday night in Kansas City after their flight to Minneapolis was diverted, will now head to Detroit to prepare for the game. The Vikings, too, will pack their gear and head out.

The league had briefly explored the option of playing the game at the University of Minnesota’s outdoor stadium, but an inability to clear the field from the nearly two feet of snow that fell this weekend plus a forecast of sub-zero temperatures at gametime left the NFL searching for a suitable indoor facility. Detroit, Indianapolis, St. Louis and New Orleans were all considered.
