PHOENIX — When it comes to re-signing Johnathan Hankins, it’s all about the numbers.

The phone numbers.

“I think Johnathan and his agent know where we are,” team co-owner Steve Tisch said of the Giants’ offer while at the NFL’s Annual Meetings in Arizona. “The agent has all of the phone numbers.”

So far, though, there has been no call. At least not one to accept the undisclosed offer. Hankins is reportedly searching for a deal worth $10 million per year, and at this point in free agency it seems very unlikely he’ll get that.

Tisch said there is no deadline on the Giants’ offer to Hankins and that the team will be patient.

“I’m very optimistic that we’re going to work this out,” he said. “I’m pretty convinced Johnathan would like to work this out. I hope we can . . . That’s just going to be another position filled by an extremely athletic, gifted, talented player.”
