In case of emergency ...

New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford speaks with

Eli Manning has taken every snap this season, but should he have to leave the game on Sunday for some reason backup quarterback David Carr would take his place. But what would happen if Carr had to leave? The Giants don’t have a third quarterback on their roster.

Or do they?

Punter Steve Weatherford is the team’s emergency quarterback. And it would obviously have to be some kind of emergency for him to get under center.

“I’m an option guy,” Weatherford said. “I’m not really a pocket passer like Eli . I like to use my athleticism to make the defensive ends nervous. God forbid Eli jams his finger and David gets a cramp, they’ve been game-planning me this week. Be encouraged about that.”

We all saw Weatherford's reaction when he was just the holder on the game-winning kick in the NFC Championship Game. Imagine if he throws the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.

No. Sorry. Don't imagine that.
