Injured players practicing, but new concerns at LB?

There were five players on the injury report yesterday (minus Steve Smith, who was placed on IR today). All five of those were practicing today.

Those would be Mario Manningham and Chris Snee, both with hip injuries, Shawn Andrews (back), Shaun O'Hara (foot) and Osi Umenyiora (knee).

That means the Giants could be looking at having their best six offensive linemen on the field for Sunday: That would be Diehl, Suebert, O'Hara, Snee and McKenzie with Andrews playing the extra tight end spot.

Of course it's never that simple. So there had to be some players not working, right? While Keith Bulluck and Michael Boley were dressed for practice and on the field, they didn't appear to be going through drills so they might not be working fully today. They were not on the injury report yesterday. Gerris Wilkinson might have to pick up the slack if they are unable to play for some reason.

Also, Jake Ballard was signed from the Giants' practice squad to take the place of Smith, who is now officially on IR. Ballard is a tight end who has appeared in one game for the Giants -- he was called up and played on special teams against the Eagles a month ago.

The Giants also signed safety Ben Hannula to the practice squad to take Ballard's spot.

Can't wait for Mitch Petrus to sing "The Ballad of Jake Ballard."
