The Eagles ran for 236 yards against the Rams last week, so you’d think that Brandon Jacobs would be drooling about getting his chance to exploit that weakness. Instead, he saw an opportunity to jab the opponent he and the Giants will face in two weeks.
Jacobs pointed out that Michael Vick had 97 of those rushing yards and said that it’s a lot different to drop back, size up the defense for five seconds, and then take off running through the holes.
“You can’t look at that,” Jacobs said of the rushing yards. “I don’t want to take anything away from Vick and what he did, but it’s a tad bit easier to get rushing yardage as a running quarterback than it is as a running back.”
Jacobs did say that the Giants running backs looked at the holes that were being chwed into the Rams’ defense. And he said he saw LeSean McCoy run hard and well against the Rams. McCoy had 122 rushing yards on 15 carries.
As for his own production, Jacobs said he wasn’t bothered by his lack of touches, only the outcome on Sunday.
“I’m not expecting anything but a win,” he said when asked if he thinks he’ll get more than six carries on Monday. “I want to go out there and do whatever I can to help this team win. Six carries or 26 carries, it doesn’t matter.”
