A couple of days ago we noted a series of snaps in 11-on-11 that caught our eye. The first one was when Bear Pascoe and Will Beatty managed to knock Jason Pierre-Paul to the ground on his back. The second was the next play where Pierre-Paul, seemingly enraged by that indignity, broke through a double team by those two players and batted down a pass by Eli Manning.
It was just like David Banner used to say on the old “The Incredible Hulk” series: “Mr. McGee, don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”
We asked the Hulk … er, JPP … about that play today.
“Coach tells us don’t bat passes down and I guess I was trying to jump and the offensive line, I think it was Beatty or Boothe, one of them grabbed me when I was in the air and I didn’t like that,” Pierre-Paul said. “That’s what they’re taught on the offensive line, so the next pass I faked him and blocked it.”
“The one he grabbed me I was just [ticked] off. I just go out there and have fun. The game of football is all about fun. Somebody might try to talk trash to you but that doesn’t affect my game. When I do get upset I show it on the football field.”
Is Pierre-Paul better when he’s angry?
“I don’t know at all,” he said, “but you never know.”
