So much for the three-safety look.

After planning to deploy the familiar scheme this week against a team that relies heavily on three-receiver sets, the Giants will be without one of the three safeties needed to form the trifecta. Kenny Phillips, who has missed the last four games with a knee injury, will miss a fifth. He is inactive despite practicing this week.

Also inactive is TE Bear Pascoe. Both Pascoe and Bradshaw were listed as questionable. Pascoe had hoped to be cleared to play in the game after practicing on Friday, but apparently he was not.

Besides Phillips and Pascoe, the other Giants inactives are: Keith Rivers, Chase Blackburn, Jacquian Williams, Adewale Ojomo and Adrien Robinson.

It’s a bit surprising that Robinson is inactive given the absence of Pascoe.

Rivers was listed as doubtful for the game.

Stevie Brown will start at safety, David Diehl will start at right tackle, and Mark Herzlich will start ay middle linebacker.

Inactive for the Steelers are: Charlie Batch, Jonathan Dwyer, Rashard Mendenhall, Troy Polamalu, Stevenson Sylvester, Marcus Gilbert and Alameda Ta’amu.
