Mathias Kiwanuka said he will travel to California early this week to meet with noted neck specialist Robert Watkins – the doctor who helped treat Antonio Pierce and performed surgery on Giants Michael Johnson and (then of the Eagles) Shawn Andrews – and could know more about the condition of his bulging disc and his season by Wednesday. Kiwanuka had a second MRI, he said, and will have the entire team of doctors – now including Watkins – go over those images.
“All of the doctors are going to get together and see what they think about the next study,” Kiwanuka said in the Giants’ post-game locker room. “It was earlier in the process than they normally like to do a second study, but I was anxious and pushing them to do it. We’ll see what they think.”
Kiwanuka said he is experiencing no pain.
