It has been five months and one day since Ben McAoo was introduce as head coach of the Giants, and there hasn’t been much time since that day in January for reflection.
Now that he has completed his first offseason of work with his new title -- and all it entails from scheduling to drafting to free agency to roster decisions – McAdoo said he can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by.
“I blinked my eyes and it was over,” he said on Thursday when the Giants broke for minicamp and won’t gather again until they report for training camp on July 28. “Very fast, very fast. It’s tough to slow things down in this business.”
The next month should be a bit less grueling. Even so, McAdoo says he doesn’t plan on taking a vacation from being head coach of the Giants. He said he expects to spend some more time with his wife and children, “but I’m going to get a little bit done each day and work a little bit.”
“It’s hard to get away,” he said, “especially when your passion and your profession merge.”
