Shhh. Did you hear something?

Yes, it’s been very quiet today on the Osi Umenyiora front. A little too quiet if you ask me. But we’ve been told that Umenyiora reported to the facility this morning and is doing his usual round of meetings with the defense and his position group. He’s expected to be at practice this evening, and while it’s doubtful that he’ll be participating, after yesterday’s adventure when he was allowed to go home but didn’t I’m not going to assume anything.

As far as I've been told, Osi is still ticked off at the Giants and Jerry Reese will not address the media until there is "something to say" which insinuates that there is some fluidity to the situation. That fluid could come rushing down like a torrent of lava from a volcano at any moment.

I will tell you that defensive line coach Robert Nunn spoke with the media today and said that Osi has been great to him in meetings, although they never discuss his contract situation.

“I just talk to him about being ready whenever this thing gets started,” Nunn said.

Of course at any moment Nunn could have one of his best players yanked away from him in a trade or a holdout or something like that.

“This guy, he’s played at a high level for a long time,” he said. “We had a very healthy situation last year and we’d like to build on that. Obviously we want him here and we’ll see where that ends up.”
