The Giants weren’t good enough to make the playoffs this year, and for the most part they weren’t good enough to be named the NFC’s Pro Bowl team. Only one Giant – center Shaun O’Hara – was named to the squad, and he’ll be a backup.

Six other Giants were named as alternates to the game. Considering that the Pro Bowl will be played in Miami and a week before the Super Bowl (as well as a week after the conference championship games), there’s a good chance that players from the top four teams in the NFL will back out. At the very least players from the teams that advance to the Super Bowl will be unavailable.

So while O’Hara is the only Pro Bowler for the Giants as of now, there will likely be more of them when the game actually takes place on Jan. 31.

The first-alternates are T David Diehl, G Chris Snee, and WR Steve Smith who leads the NFC in reception.. DE Justin Tuck and kick returner Domenik Hixon are third alternates. And QB Eli Manning, a Pro Bowler last year and coming off his best statistical season, is a fourth alternate.
