O'Hara says "Aloha" to Pro Bowl; Fewell and Fassel getting looks

A couple of nuggets in regards to the Giants today.

First off, Shaun O’Hara has pulled out of the Pro Bowl due to the injuries in his ankle and foot. He’s expected to have offseason surgery to repair the Achilles/bursitis situation that flared up on him at the start of training camp, was a real bug to diagnose, and never really went away.

Panthers center Ryan Kalil has been added to the NFC roster to replace O’Hara.

The second item is on Perry Fewell. The Cleveland Plain Dealer is now reporting that the Giants’ defensive coordinator will interview with the Browns for their head coaching job next week. That puts them behind the Panthers, who met with Fewell yesterday, and the Broncos, who are expected to meet with him on Sunday. The fourth team interested in Fewell, the 49ers, is apparently out of the race since they hired some college coach.

Also of interest: In a radio interview today, Broncos exec John Elway dropped an interesting name as a possible candidate for his open head coaching job – Jim Fassel. I guess back-to-back UFL championships do count for something. Fassel did say that as of today he had no scheduled meetings with the Broncos or Elway, who he coached as an assistant in Denver.
