Osi Umenyiora will practice today, he just doesn’t want to talk about it.
The defensive end declined to speak with the media today through a team representative, which is perhaps a positive step since he’d just ignored and blown off our requests since the beginning of training camp. Meanwhile, other players were talking about the return of Umenyiora to the field.
“He hasn’t said it, but you can see how he comes into the meeting room and the way he interacts with guys, when they show plays on film how he responds to it,” Justin Tuck said. “I know him well enough to know when he’s itching to get back on the football field.”
Tuck did levy a warning, though.
“Just because he’s back on the football field doesn’t mean this whole saga is over,” he said. “But he’s doing what he thinks is best to help this football team and himself and you have to give him credit for that.”
Umenyiora is clearly unhappy with the front office of the Giants. Will that affect his play?
“I know Osi, man,” Tuck said. “He steps on a football field and his focus is as high as anybody’s. He knows how to separate the two. A lot of guys don’t have that capability. I know he does.”
