Phillips and his knee show up on pre-practice injury report

Here are three words that the Giants and their fans did not want to see on any injury reports this year:

“Kenny Phillips – Knee”

Yet there it is on today’s pre-practice injury report, just over a year since Phillips underwent complicated surgery to repair the patelofemoral arthritic condition in his left knee. Now we don’t know which knee is bugging him. And he might go out there and practice fully today. But just the idea that the healthy Kenny Phillips is now a not-entirely-healthy Kenny Phillips is disturbing.

Phillips looked to tweak his knee two weeks ago against the Titans, but he was not on the injury report last week. I didn’t notice any injury or limping by him against the Bears on Sunday night.

Two others are on the pre-practice injury report that we weren’t aware of (sort of). Adam Koets has a knee injury and Osi Umenyiora has a knee injury. Of course, Osi missed practice on Friday with that situation (which was overshadowed by Kiwanuka’s neck injury) but then came out and had three sacks.

The rest of the pre-practice injury report: Will Beatty (foot), Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle), Keith Bulluck (toe), Madison Hedgecock (hamstring), Mathias Kiwanuka (neck), Shaun O’Hara (ankle/Achilles).

The good news is that neither Chase Blackburn nor Phillip Dillard are on the injury report.

We'll talk with Tom Coughlin in a few minutes and hopefully have some more details in a little while.
