Maybe Deon Grant was in charge of the inactives this week.

The veteran safety said on Friday that he was not sure whether rookie first-round draft pick Prince Amukamara was ready to make his NFL debut against the Patriots. Still, Amukamara made the trip with the team and all signs pointed to him playing. Then the inactives list came out and the Amukamara Era will have to wait another week.

Amukamara was on the list that already included David Baas, Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks and Stacy Andrews. James Brewer and Henry Hynoski (neck) are also out for the game.

The good news for the Giants is that Jason Pierre-Paul, who had some concussion-like symptoms late in the week and missed practice on Friday, is active and will play. Also, Ramses Barden, who was activated off PUP yesterday, will dress and play. There was a point early in the week when Barden was taking first-team reps as both Nicks and Mario Manningham (illness) were sidelined, so it will be interesting to see where Barden fits into the receiver hierarchy today. He could jump right to the No. 3 spot.
