Rich Seubert was on hand this afternoon to receive the player of the year award from Big Blue Interactive, the Giants’ fan message board.

In a typically classy move, the Giants hosted the small ceremony on their practice field, despite Seubert being cut two weeks ago. In addition to a group of fans, Eli Manning, offensive line coach Pat Flaherty and offensive linemen David Diehl, Kareem McKenzie, Chris Snee and Kevin Boothe came out to watch Seubert get the award.

“It feels a little weird coming back, but... I am a Giant,” said  Seubert, who said a few teams have contacted his agent but he is still rehabbing from the knee injury he suffered in January and said he’s two months away from being anywhere near football ready. “I was blessed to be a New York Giant for 10 years. It’s my life, my family’s
life.

“I’ll be at the game (Monday vs. the Bears). So maybe I can yell at the coaches without them yelling back at me.”

Seubert noted that the previous two recipients of the website’s award, Plaxico Burress in 2009 and Steve Smith in 2010, have moved on.

“I got cut before I got the award,” he said, “so I think I’ll end the curse right here.”

Seubert is working as if he’s going to return to football, somewhere.

“I can’t let this (injury) say I’m done,” he said. “I’m going to give it everything to prove that this won’t be the thing that ends it. I’m stubborn.”
