Now that his favorite NFL team is out of the playoffs, Steve Tisch is jumping on the Jets’ bandwagon.
“I’m a friend of Woody’s,” the Giants’ co-owner said of Jets owner Woody Johnson. “We share a stadium, he’s our partner, the team is our partner. We both are New York teams with New York/New Jersey fans. I honestly wish them great success. I hope they go deep into the playoffs. If they can end up in Dallas I’d be thrilled because they do represent New York, they represent New York football.”
Tisch said he understands that there are plenty of Giants fans who would gag at the idea of the Jets in the Super Bowl and are hoping for a quick and painful flameout by the Jets.
“But I have to appreciate it from different perspectives, some of which may conflict with the die-hard Giants fan,” Tisch said. “I think the Jets going deep into the playoffs is good for New York, is good for New Meadowlands Stadium, and I think it’s good for both Jets and Giants fans who come to this stadium every Sunday. I wish Woody and Rex and their team great success starting next week.”
