The Giants are getting healthier.

Not only is Hakeem Nicks going to practice today after missing the last week or so with tightness in his groin, but two of the players on PUP are coming off that list and taking the field. Jerry Reese said this morning on WFAN that guard Chris Snee (hip) and cornerback Terrell Thomas (knee) will both make the move to the active roster and be on the field today. They’ll likely be limited, but still.

That leaves three players on PUP: Markus Kuhn (knee), Henry Hynoski (knee) and Jason Pierre-Paul (back). And while there has been no change in their designation, Reese did drop some optimism in regard to Pierre-Paul.

Reese said the defensive end’s rehab has been progressing nicely and that the Giants fully expect for him to be ready to play in the season opener against the Cowboys a month from Thursday. Reese also said that we can expect to see JPP on the fields a lot more often, even if it is just working on the side. For most of camp Pierre-Paul has been holed up inside the facility (no reason to have him standing around watching practices and putting added strain on the back) but he did emerge to watch the workout on Sunday and do a little stretching and jogging. It sounds like we’ll be seeing more and more of that in the coming weeks.
