As the Giants head into their final five games of the regular season, Tom Coughlin is asking them to give more.
“They have to extend themselves this time of the year,” Coughlin said on Wednesday. “If it’s that important to them, extend yourself.”
The Giants didn’t do much extending last week when they came out flat against Washington and lost their grip on the division lead. But, as Coughlin was quick to point out, that was in November.
“We’re in December now,” he said. “There are not many games left to play. There is no reason not to commit yourself totally and completely to something you have spent your life wishing and hoping for. That’s the attitude that I think [we need].”
Coughlin even went so far as to compare the work ethic of his players to that of … the media?
“Hey, it’s no different than you guys,” he said. “Go to the office early, stay late, make sure you are responsible for your assignments, make sure you are prepared, make sure you know the guy you are going to play against. Do everything in your power.”
