In regards to Rueben Randle expressing frustration over the number of reps and targets he is getting this season, Tom Coughlin offered some blunt advice:

“I would take full advantage of the ones that I do have before I would talk about opportunities,” he said on Thursday.

Randle has been an enigma this season: productive at times, disappointing at others. In each of the last two losses he has been the targeted receiver on an interception in the end zone, so he is getting chances. He is second on the team in targets behind Odell Beckham Jr.

“From day one, there’s been opportunities here for everybody to fit in and be a part of [it],” Coughlin said. “We do need to have better balance, there’s no doubt about that. Hopefully we can accomplish that going forward.”

Randle has not only seen his targets diminish this season, but his actual reps have also gone down. There are times when he is on the sideline and Dwayne Harris, Myles White or Hakeem Nicks will take his snaps. Coughlin insisted that has nothing to do with Randle being benched due to performance.

Ultimately, Coughlin wants Randle to be the second option behind Beckham.

“It’s been that way,” he said. “I don’t think you can argue with that.”
