What are the chances Justin Tuck plays against the Rams on Monday? Flip a coin.
The defensive end who has been nursing a neck injury for over two weeks said yesterday that the odds of him being ready to face the Rams are “50-50” and the injury is not getting better.
“It had been progressing and it kind of just got stagnant,” Tuck said in his weekly spot on WFAN. “As of now it’s just not getting better. It’s better than it was a week ago but the last couple of days it didn’t stay on that (progress) and it just kind of got stagnant. That’s where we are.”
Tuck injured his neck when he suffered a stinger in the third quarter of the preseason game against the Jets on Aug. 29. He has not played since. He sat out the full-contact practice last week and was limited in the others, but after a pregame examination in Washington on Sunday doctors concluded that it was too risky for Tuck to play.
It was his first missed game since 2006.
“It’s going to really have to be hurting or be a situation where I can tremendously hurt it more to hold me out,” Tuck said. “I don’t like being on the sideline, let’s just say that.”
