Turns out that when the Giants listed Brandon Jacobs and Justin Tuck as “doubtful,” they weren’t doing so sarcastically or ironically. The two big cogs to the Giants’ successes have officially been scratched from today’s game as inactive. They are two of four players who are not playing due to injury. The other two we already knew about: David Baas (neck) and Prince Amukamara (foot).

The three healthy scratches for the Giants? Michael Clayton, James Brewer and Mitch Petrus.

That means Jim Cordle, who was called up from the practice squad earlier this week, is active and will dress. He’ll be the backup center behind Kevin Boothe, who is starting in place of Baas. Da’Rel Scott is also active today, but it remains to be seen how much of a role he has in the offense with D.J. Ware expected to handle most of Brandon Jacobs’ carries.

The Seahawks, meanwhile, have two starters not playing today. WR Mike Williams is out as a wide receiver, replaced by Ben Obomanu. But the big loss for the Seahawks is having starting corner Marcus Trufant inactive. Walter Thurmond gets the start in his place.
