It’s official: Justin Tuck is out.
The Giants just released their list of inactives for the Cardinals game and Tuck is included in the bunch. He said he would be playing in the game if he made the trip to Arizona, but that is not the case. Once again we realize that the worst sources for injury information about players are players themselves, particularly when they say they will play. When they say they won’t, that’s usually a pretty safe bet.
The good news – and perhaps even more surprising at this point – is that Zak DeOssie will play. The long-snapper missed practices this week with back issues and he was not seen on the field for warm-ups. In fact, backups Travis Beckum and Mark Herzlich were seen warming up as long-snappers. But DeOssie will dress and play in his 68th consecutive game.
The rest of the Giants inactives are pretty chalk: Mitch Petrus, Da’Rel Scott, James Brewer, Michael Clayton and the two who did not travel – Prince Amukamara and Brandon Stokley.
Oh, and Osi Umenyiora is officially playing. Jason Pierre-Paul is starting at left end for Tuck and Osi will start at right.
