Like the NFL playoffs just the way they are? Well, better enjoy them while you can, because they might be changing in the not-too-distant future.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said today at the league's fall meetings that adding two more playoff teams could happen as soon as 2015.

"If expanding the postseason would allow other teams to get into the dance, and they have the potential of going on and winning the Super Bowl," Goodell said, "that's a good thing for fans, that a good thing competitively."

Under a plan envisioned by Goodell, there would be three games in each conference on wild card weekend. Goodell said it's possible the preseason would be reduced from four weeks to three.

The competition committee has so far refrained from adding any playoff teams, although it has discussed the matter periodically over the years.
