It appears the Brandon Weeden era in Cleveland is officially over.
After a series of poor starts, the former first-round pick has been benched in favor of journeyman backup Jason Campbell, according to head coach Rob Chudzinski.
Weeden was never a favorite of Browns general manager Mike Lombardi, who ripped the choice last year when he was an NFL Network commentator. The Browns were hopeful that Brian Hoyer would ignite the offense, but a season-ending knee injury ended those plans. Interestingly, Hoyer jumped ahead of Campbell when he was named the starter when Weeden suffered a thumb injury.
