Palm Beach, Fla. - Rex Ryan said the team is open to re-signing wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who had two solid seasons in 2009-10 before signing a one-year deal with the 49ers last year. Edwards suffered a knee injury and was released before the 49ers wound up winning the NFC West and advancing to the NFC Championship Game.

"Braylon played extremely  well the to years he was here," Ryan said. "I’m not sure what his health status is. He has a knee issue, so that'll have to be checked out. I always thought Braylon was a tremendous worker on the practice field. He did a great job as a competitor on the field. Sometimes, people would say he drops a lot of passes. He dropped one pass his last year that I remembered. He was unselfish. He’d block. Gosh, he’d block. We’ll see what happens."
