After being turned down by Keith Fitzhugh, the Jets have opted to sign Emanuel Cook.
According to reports, the 22-year-old safety -- who had stints with the Jets and Tampa Bay Bucs and most recently played for the UFL's Hartford Colonials -- will return to the team to sure up the depleted secondary.
Laveranues Coles was released to make room on the roster.
Both Fitzhugh and Cook were released in early September, but the team reached out to both of them after James Ihedigbo suffered a high ankle and MCL injury against New England Monday night. Fitzhugh declined the offer, citing family responsibilites and the stable income he earns as a train conductor.
Ihedigbo, who underwent an MRI yesterday, rode the stationary bike during practice. Head coach Rex Ryan will give the MRI results in an hour or so.
