Cotchery says he'll play it smart

Rex Ryan once again refused to rule Jerricho Cotchery (groin) out for Sunday's game, but it seems likely at this juncture that he won't play.

That would be the smart route, of course, with the Jets following Sunday's game against Houston with another home game four days later. They host Cincinnati Thanksgiving night. But Cotchery said, "I don't even think about missing games."

Cotchery, who tore a groin last Sunday, said he did some light jogging but still feels some pain. His goal each day has been to build back muscle strength and he feels he's made progress. But he can't predict whether he'll dress Sunday.

"I'm going to be smart about it," he said.

If Cotchery can't go, activating Patrick Turner from the practice squad is one option the Jets are considering, Ryan said.
