During ESPN's "NFL 32" show Wednesday, Chris Mortensen reported the Jets are expected to end up with Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn.
The Jets were interested in signing Quinn last offseason, but opted for Drew Stanton instead. (One Tim Tebow-trade later and Stanton was sent packing to Indy, as you may recall.)
In place of the injured Matt Cassel (concussion), Quinn threw for 1,141 yards, two touchdowns and eight interceptions. He finished the 2012 season with a 56.9 completion percentage.
The Jets reportedly would like to enter training camp with five QBs. So if they do sign Quinn, he'd compete for the starting job against Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, Matt Simms (son of Phil), and another QB.
Quinn likely wants out of Kansas City after it was reported Wednesday that the Chiefs are expected to trade for Alex Smith when the new league year begins in two weeks.
