That may have something to do with the 3-0 record in the AFC East, but both D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Brad Smith said the Jets' 3-1 start this year feels different than the rather surprising 3-1 start the Jets had a season ago.
"We learned a lot from last year, how it feels to be in this position," Ferguson said. "But we have that whole year, all of last year's experience now, so hopefully it'll be a better outcome."
Added Smith: "I felt last year was just kind of a shock. We were just riding momentum. This year, it's more determined -- we plan on winning. We plan on playing our best game every week. That's the difference."
The Jets' 2-4 divisional record a season ago perhaps labeled that team as unprepared for the big games, the run to the AFC title game notwithstanding. But the three straight wins over divisional opponents the last three weeks fits more in line with the way the Jets view themselves.
"We didn't take advantage of that opportunity," Ferguson said of last season. "Now, we've been successful. This will really allow us to be in the position we want to be in, which is No. 1."
