You mad, bro?
Richard Sherman's brash overconfidence has made him a fan favorite in Seattle. But his boastfulness struck a nerve with three-time All-Pro Darrelle Revis -- and resulted in a long Twitter feud Wednesday afternoon.
The impetus for the war of words could be a Jan. 25 tweet from Sherman that read: "Women lie, men lie, numbers don't" and included a side-by-side which seemed to be Sherman's and Revis' career stats. In subsequent interviews, the Seahawks cornerback has voiced his frustrations over being picked 154th overall in 2011, calling the combine and draft process "a shame."
In Sherman's mind, he's the best corner in the league -- not Revis.
Revis, naturally, disagrees.
"I never seen a man before run his mouth so much like girl. This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety @rsherman_25," Revis tweeted.
And soon, a barrage of tweets from Revis' camp filled Twitter timelines.
"@rsherman_25 I ain't your competition bro, @roddywhiteTV is!!!” the injured Revis tweeted, before posting this message: "My boy @JohnGeiger_ got more followers then @rsherman_25. Sit down young pup & wait your turn.”
Geiger, Revis' business manager, joined in on the Sherman-bashing when he posted a YouTube clip of Falcons receiver Roddy White taunting the Seattle corner after scoring a touchdown.
Sherman quickly went on the offensive, labeling Revis -- who played in just three games in 2012 because of an ACL injury -- "irrelevant" and seemingly past his prime.
"@Revis24 one season u will get 8 picks....," Sherman wrote, "But it won't happen anytime soon... I did it in my 2nd season... So u have something to chase."
"@Revis24 don't need ya name... Ur name will be irrelevant once u step back on the field bruh. Get ya picks up!”
"...I have 8 picks 3 ff and a sack. My season stats looking like Revis career stats”
(The Twitter feud continued for several more rounds. Check their respective timelines for a full blow-by-blow.)
