As his contract negotiations still drag on into Jets minicamp this week here in Florham Park, N.J., All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis has tried to avoid commotion. A distraction is something Revis said he doesn't want to be this week at mini-camp.

But judging by the sea of reporters surrounding his locker as he returned from the showers, Revis may not be able to avoid some kind of a "distraction tag".

No scene better exhibited that than when Revis returned to his locker after practice. Though Revis walked back  trying to avoid commotion, his locker room neighbor in defensive tackle Sione Pouha didn't have a problem making some noise of his own. As Revis approached his locker, Pouha played the role of pseudo-bodyguard, as he walked Revis through the crowd yelling "Excuse me, excuse me" to the laughter of the media.

But once Revis found his locker, the laughter subsided. It was back to business. Revis was fine with talking business for the better part of an hour to reporters. After the morning session Revis told reporters that the talks havent progessed much if at all since he last spoke to the media, last week.

"Like I said before I told you guys," Revis said. "(There are) two different opinions going on, and like I said I’m going to do what is best for me and my family."

For now, the only thing Revis can confirm is that he will be in attendance for the entirety of Jets minicamp this week.

"The main reason I’m here is, I work for the New York Jets." Revis said. "I'm here for minicamp. It's mandatory, and I'm here for my teammates."

In the morning session Revis did, however, sit out the last series of the team's 11-on-11 drills. And asked after the fact whether or not that was related to injury, or had something  to do with the contract situation, Revis elaborated. He acknowledged that he sat out the series for non-injury related issues, to show the Jets, as he said, that he "can play, but he can not play".

Revis even supplied some "contract" induced injuries from Monday that reporters got a nice laugh out of.

"A little lightheaded today, a little lightheaded." Revis said jokingly of why he sat out the last series. "Hamstring pull too. It's just um, where going through it (the contract negotiations) right now. It's a phase right now."

Revis also said he doesn't know and there had been no decision made yet on whether or not he would perhaps sit out the Jets training camp later this summer.

Jets center Nick Mangold was at practice Momday morning, but did not speak with the media afterwards. Mangold is also reportedly unhappy with his current contract.
