Don't expect a Taylor decision today

FILE - This Oct. 12, 2009, file photo shows Miami Dolphins linebacker Jason Taylor during an NFL football game against the New York Jets, in Miami. Taylor is meeting with the New York Jets for a second day as coach Rex Ryan tries to persuade the NFL's active sacks leader to join the top-ranked defense. The six-time Pro Bowl pick is at the team's facility Thursday, April 8, 2010, and has met a number of Jets players, who say Taylor would be a welcome addition. On Friday the news from Florida was that the Jason Taylor-to-the Jets move was all but finalized. "Close to done," was how it was reported. Apparently it's not.

According to Taylor's agent, Gary Wichard, he and Taylor have yet to even formally discuss the Jets since his visit to New Jersey late last week.

And according to a league source, Taylor is home in Florida while his wife is visiting family in Texas (Katina is a former Miss Amarillo, don't ya know!). So Taylor and his wife haven't even had a face-to-face discussion about a potential move to the metropolitan area. I'm told she'll be home tomorrow.

These conversations with his agent and his better half are expected to take place in the coming days.

This doesn't mean it won't happen. It just means it's not on the extreme verge of happening.
