DEPARTURE LEON WASHINGTON, Running back Traded to Seattle

Traded to Seattle on Day 3 of draft
The change-up back and kick returner with breakaway speed and elusiveness broke his leg in 2009. He signed a one-year tender offer this offseason but was traded after the drafting of Joe McKnight.

Fan favorite Leon Washington has crossed enemy lines.

The former Jets running back/kick returner tweeted a photo of himself Thursday sporting a New England Patriots cap. The caption read: “#Blessed Lets Go #Pats”

Washington rushed for 1,782 yards and 13 touchdowns and caught 123 passes for 969 yards during his four-year Jets tenure. He and Josh Cribbs are also tried for the most kick-return touchdowns in the NFL (eight).

Washington, who suffered a devastating leg injury in Week 7 of the 2009 season, was traded to Seattle in 2010. But his run with the Seahawks came to an end after the Percy Harvin trade earlier this week.

The Patriots – who signed former Rams slot guy Danny Amendola as a replacement for Wes Welker – will use Washington in the return game.
