Santonio Holmes had to be helped off the field after suffering a non-contact knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the 49ers.

After catching a four-yard pass from Mark Sanchez, the Jets’ No. 1 wideout fell down untouched, tossing the ball forward – and into the hands of San Francisco cornerback Carlos Rogers – before grabbing his left knee.

Rogers then ran the ball back 51 yards for a touchdown, putting the 49ers up 24-0 with 14:46 left.

Holmes stayed down for several minutes near the 49ers’ sideline where he was attended to by trainers. He had four catches for 29 yards prior to the injury. He had to be helped off the field and couldn’t put any weight on his left leg.

The Jets, who already have lost Darrelle Revis with an ACL tear, started the game without wide receiver Stephen Hill and tight end Dustin Keller. During the game, tight end Dedrick Epps injured his knee and FB John Conner injured his hamstring.
