The Jets announced during Friday's practice that they have cut their roster down to 60. The following players have been waived: WR Joseph Collins, LB Marcus Dowtin, OT Robert Griffin, OG Fredrick Koloto, OC Matt Kroul, P Spencer Lanning, DB LeQuan Lewis, TE Tarren Lloyd, DS D’Anton Lynn, DB Julian Posey, DE Jay Richardson, WR Eron Riley, LB Brett Roy, QB Matt Simms and NT Martin Tevaseu.

Damon Harrison, Paul Cornick, Donnie Fletcher, Jordan White, Ricky Sapp and John Conner were all at practice. Rumors swirled that Conner -- the Jets' lone fullback now that Josh Baker is hurt -- would be on the chopping block. He was asked to play in the final preseason game due to low numbers, according to Rex Ryan, but rookie running back Terrance Ganaway started at fullback against the Eagles. Asked point-blank after the game about Conner's job security, Ryan declined to comment.

And here is a look at Friday's Tour De Florham Park: Bryan Thomas, Nick Bellore and Brandon Moore rode the stationary bikes during the team stretch. Josh Bush, Dustin Keller, Sapp, Eric Smith, Joe McKnight and David Harris joined the rehab area later.

Oft-injured WR Chaz Schilens was on the practice field -- a good sign, especially on roster cut day. There was speculation the veteran receiver was on the bubble, but he was on the field for special team drills. ...Another positive sign for the Jets was NT Sione Po'uha (back) doing drills with the rest of the D-lineman. At one point, he was on all fours, taking turns stretching out his legs. But shortly thereafter, he was up, doing positional drills. Po'uha said all along that he expected to be ready for Week 1 vs. Buffalo. ...TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion) did live drills during the veiwing portion allotted to media.

The dreams of thousands of would-be NFL hopefuls were dashed Friday, as teams began shaping their final rosters before the 9 p.m. deadline.

The Jets had 75 players coming into Thursday night’s preseason finale loss to the Eagles. But by morning, word of their initial roster cuts already was circulating.

The Jets reportedly have cut WRs Joseph Collins and Eron Riley; DBs Julian Posey, D’Anton Lynn (son of running backs coach Anthony Lynn), Donnie Fletcher and LeQuan Lewis; LBs Ricky Sapp and Marcus Dowtin, DLs Jay Richardson, Damon Harrison and Martin Tevaseu; OLs Matt Kroul, Robert T. Griffin, Paul Cornick and Fred Koloto; TE Tarren Lloyd and P Spencer Lanning.

As expected, QB Matt Simms also was reportedly cut.

Koloto's agent, Howard Shatsky, confirmed via Twitter that his player was released.

Players waived Thursday and Friday are eligible to be claimed off waivers on Saturday at 12 p.m.
