Now, ain't this a flip!

After all the hubbub that transpired over the supposed "Coinflipgate," guess who the Jets will host in their preseason opener at the New Meadowlands Stadium? That would be the New York Football Giants.

That, mind you, is the very same organization that offered up a statement loaded with subtle verbal barbs tossed in the Jets' direction when the NFL announced the Jets would play the first NFL preseason game there but the Giants were getting the season opener.

The NFL released the entire preseason schedule not long ago, and the two will square off on August 16 on ESPN's "Monday Night Football."

I'm sure the Jets probably feel as if they got the short end of the stick having to open up against the stadium's co-tenants. This bit of news is the latest piece of kindling and should create a few more sparks in what's really becoming a heated rivalry between the two organizations.

As for the rest of their preseason slate, the Jets will travel down to Charlotte, N.C. for a matchup with the Panthers in Week 2. Rex Ryan & Co. will take on the Redskins in Week 3, which typically serves as the dress rehearsal for the season opener.

They'll conclude things with a short trek down the New Jersey Turnpike to the City of Brotherly Love for a contest with the Eagles on Sept. 2. Question is, will we see Donovan McNabb in a Philly uniform then?

The regular-season schedule, by the way, still hasn't been finalized and is expected to be released sometime within the next few weeks.

We'll be able to get the players' take on their preseason schedule and countless other topics tomorrow when we have access out at The Hangar. So check back here for plenty of news and notes as we speak to the key players for the first time since the season-ending loss to the Colts in the AFC Championship game.
