The Jets announced late Tuesday afternoon that they have re-signed wide receiver Jason Hill.
The former Jaguar had just two catches for 15 yards and a touchdown for the Jets before he was released on Oct. 27 -- the same day the team signed backup tight end Hayden Smith from the practice squad. Hill was signed early last month to shore up the receiving corps after Santonio Holmes (Lisfranc) was lost for the season.
In a corresponding move, Allen was waived for the second time in two months. The rookie safety -- who was drafted in the seventh round -- cleared waivers the first time around and ended up on the practice squad in September. He then was signed to the active roster on Oct. 12 after the Jets placed All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis on season-ending injured reserve.
Allen, 24, likely will be back with the Jets -- provided he clears waivers a second time. He played in three games and contributed two tackles, a sack and a special teams fumble recovery.
