The Jets have tendered RFA right tackle Austin Howard at the second-level, worth $2.023 million in salary, a source confirmed to Newsday.
If another team gives Howard an offer sheet – and he signs it – the Jets have a chance to match it. If GM John Idzik can’t match the offer, the Jets will receive a second-round pick from that team.
Howard supplanted Wayne Hunter as the starter last offseason, shortly before Hunter was traded to St. Louis in exchange for Jason Smith.
