Which is why Westhoff guaranteed Steve Weatherford won't be calling his own number any time soon. Or ever.
"There's not a gray area. I call everything," Westhoff said during his weekly chat with reporters, the first chance he's had to address Weatherford's 4th-and-18 fake punt from the Jets 20 on Sunday.
In fact, Westhoff said if Mark Sanchez hadn't been sacked on third down, he might have called for the fake with the way the Packers were lining up their punt return.
"We only have it called one way. If I'd known he was going to run it, I wish I'd have called it," Westhoff said, noting that Brad Smith would have sealed up the edge that Weatherford ran for.
"The only good thing, to be honest -- we thought we got (the first down)," he said. "I was arguing that he made it, trying to tell the officials. So I was much more involved in that than in trying to find Steve. That was good. I had a chance to calm down a little bit."
And as for taking Weatherford and Nick Folk to the New Meadowlands Stadium to practice in the wind?
"It's a lot better than it used to be. (Folk) just missed that one," Westhoff said of Folk's missed 38-yarder on Sunday. "I think he'd have missed it in the Sistine Chapel."
