Rex, Woody still in silent mode
At some point this week, Rex Ryan will have to address the media. The only question is when.
Per the NFL's media policy, head coaches must hold news conferences during the week following the end of season. The Jets' disappointing year ended Sunday with a 28-9 loss in Buffalo.
Owner Woody Johnson continues to remain silent while searching for a new GM. And so has Ryan.
Unfortunately, it's the fans -- not the media -- who remain in the dark about what went terribly wrong in 2012. The Jets pride themselves on being transparent. But while the other 31 NFL teams made their head coaches available this week, Johnson has kept Ryan hidden from view.
The Jets likely want to keep everything under wraps until they secure their new GM. But that "organizational decision" shouldn't preclude Ryan from discussing the many failures of this past season -- and why the team he thought could be his best ever, stumbled to a 6-10 finish.
